The business world is pretty posh, and that’s an understatement. Bain took the entire office to a company offsite for a couple of days at the end of last week, and I thought I was living in a movie (like Meet Joe Black). It was held at a Ritz Carlton resort, so essentially we were wined and dined and given spa treatments for about two days. Granted there were some meetings explaining how the company is doing, to watch skits put together by various groups of people, etc. etc. This place was so ritzy (I wonder if that was termed after Ritz Carltons) there were real hand towels with which to dry your hands in the bathrooms. The clean towels were all rolled up and stacked, and as soon as you use one, you’d throw it in this hamper (I presume to get washed and used again).
We left for the offsite Wednesday afternoon, and got back Friday afternoon. My parents then came into town Friday night, leaving Sunday morning. I had to get my car taken to the body shop Saturday morning (taking advantage of having my dad here) because of a *minor* fender bender that I got myself into the weekend before when Ryan was here. Yup that’s right ladies and gentlemen, I hit another parked car. Such is my record; I’ve never hit anything moving. Even given the slight damage, body work is so expensive that there was a possibility that the repair costs would exceed the value of the car. *sigh* my poor car. I didn’t mean to, I swear. Did some outlet shopping this weekend with my parents, too. Main items bought: NICE (posh?) watch, a white linen Banana dress (yay linen), and some overalls. Ulterior motives for buying the overalls definitely :) Super plus for shopping with parents: they pay.
I met up with brewer for coffee last night at a Starbucks between Buckhead and Midtown. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so lost and helpless in finding a place. I live maybe 10 minutes from the Starbucks, but it took me about 40 minutes to get there. Let’s just say there was so much driving up and down the road the store was on that at times I wondered if I was “cruising the road.” It was really nice to see and talk to brewer; we talked a lot about next year, the lawn, how we both want UNCLUTTERED, classy rooms. Maybe she’ll be my motivation to keep my room simple and clean. She’s flying to California today to see her girlfriend, but will be back on Monday, after which we’re planning on grabbing Guru as well and rocking Atlanta together.
