We get to the Shanghai airport, and after standing in line for 1.5 hours waiting to get through immigration, I have to go to the bathroom. Lo and behold, there is a line to the women’s bathroom. Why is it that no matter where in the world you go, there is always a line to the women’s bathroom?
The men’s room was free as a bird.

Somehow I guessed you were a Shanghaier.
1.5 hours through immigration? Red passport?

i’m actually not a shanghaier … i just fly into shanghai, and we have to drive another 4 hours to get to my hometown :)
i have a blue passport, but pudong airport had a ton of flights all land at the same time, and the lines were not really moving. a red passport would have actually been faster b/c the line for China Nationals was much much shorter
Ah, my bad. Ningbo? Am I moving in the right geographical direction? :)
So it has gotten better with the lines for Chinese nationals. I hear people say you can get in any line despite what the signs say. I’ve never tried it myself.

hmm … i actually don’t know where ningbo is :) my chinese geography is really bad. is ningbo part of the 沪宁高速? but i thought somebody told me that “ning” stood for 南京? it’s all very confusing to me …
i’m from 镇江, of vinegar fame
Ok, yeah so I was going the wrong direction (south). I have a good friend from 镇江 and of course everybody has 镇江 vinegar :)
Wow, just read this. Toxic styrene spill just south of Zhenjiang on the 28th.
