The trouble with airplanes

I came home yesterday for winter break, but sans my luggage, which is rather a pain. I was supposed to fly Boston to Philly, and transfer in Philly to come to Charleston. Instead, my Boston to Philly flight landed 45 minutes late, which was the amount of time I had to transfer in Philadelphia … causing me to miss my flight to Charleston. The only flight into Charleston that I could get on last night was one that transfers through Charlotte. So I got put on another flight to Charlotte, where I transferred again to finally get to Charleston.

The lady who changed my itinerary promised me that my check-in bag would be taken care of, that she’s already rerouted it, despite my asking her many questions. I don’t think she even understood what I was asking. She kept repeating “Your bag will follow you. I’ve rerouted it. ‘They’ will take it from the bag room, where it is currently and put it on your next flight.”

Well, whoever “they” were, “they” didn’t do their job. My bag did not follow me to Charleston. I gave my information to the baggage service guy, who promised that I would get a call today before “lunchtime” about the whereabouts of my bag. I guess lunchtime is different for everybody, but I never got a call from them. I called the number they gave me, and talked to an automated “Alex,” who promised to have a conversation with me. Anyway, “Alex” told me at 1:30 that my bag had already been picked up by the delivery company and should be delivered to me in 4-6 hours.

Here I am … still waiting, 5.5 hours later. No bag.
